(no subject)
Aug. 21st, 2009 12:26 pmAlex sat on my glasses. Two thumbs way down.
I saw District 9. It made me think of what a pope should do to respond to such an event. Clearly he'd be forced to declare that they can receive the sacraments, but it seems that they don't have cisgendered reproduction. I wonder what effect that would have on the idea that priests need to be male. Clearly an alien landing will help solve all our theological problems.
Because I'm a dork and because no legislature which streams sessions and debates in English is currently sitting, I've been listening to the deliberations of the ELCA regarding the ongoing "gay stuff" crisis in American Protestantism. Winners so far:
The guy who said that traditional Lutherans stand with the Roman Catholic Church.
The woman pastor who explicitly said she was against innovation when it comes to the ranks of the clergy.
A bishop who doesn't really understand the procedural rules of the body he's presiding over, and who is eerily reminiscent of George Carlin.
All the people who sought to avert schism within the body, as if that bell could be unrung.
Democracy is fail, and here more than usual.
Anybody else have ideas of what I should do since I'm bored out of my mind?
